LOST CHORDS, UNSUNG SONGS

South Bank Centre / Purcell Room

Philip Herbet (piano), Kay Smith (mezzo-soprano) and Chris Rogers (violin) have come together for a special collaboration to celebrate through chamber music and art songs a revelation of the hidden history of Black composers – quite literally, Lost Chords, Unsung Songs. An eclectic range of musical influences – jazz, blues, gospel, folk dance elements and classical genres. This concert offers a unique opportunity to hear chamber music from a different perspective rarely heard in Britain, and is a celebration of the contribution Black composers have made to the western classical musical tradition.
