KADIALY KOUYATE AND KIKE PEDERSEN
Sunday 30 September, 3pm
Horniman Museum, Conservatory
020 8699 1872 / www.horniman.ac.uk
To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade Act at the Horniman Museum, there will be a series of special concerts, each Sunday in September, focusing on musical traditions associated with the African diaspora.
This performance will include music from Kadialy Kouyate on the Casamance kora, the traditional instrument of the griots (praise singers) of Senegal, combined with the Paraguayan harp played by Kike Pedersen. “Listening to them tonight was to be bathed in sound – it’s impossible to avoid metaphors like fountains and waterfalls. File under: Luxurious” Charlie Gillett, BBC London.
The series of concerts earlier this month include performances from The Irko Theatre Company, London Adventist Chorale, and Chacon y su Timba. Visit www.horniman.ac.uk for more information.
This event is free, but there are a limited number of places.
