MOTHERLAND
A STORY OF BEING AND BELONGING

Tuesday 2 October to Saturday 6 October
Oval House Theatre

What poems of the heart inscribe ancestral bloodlines, through forced migration and slavery, affecting people’s relationships today? Motherland tells a story of love, conflict, revenge and revolution.

This epic, cross-cultural dance theatre spectacle looks at the relationship between two people through the lens of African and Indian slavery and the journeys that make present-day communities profoundly intertwined.

Motherland brings together an international cast to create the sounds, rhythms and movements of India, Africa, the Caribbean and the UK, to celebrate the power of the human spirit.

These London dates are the culmination of a national tour which runs from Saturday 8 September in Birmingham, and visits Crawley, Luton, Warwick, Shropshire, Frome, Ledbury, Stockton-on-Tees, Rocester, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Halifax and Leicester. Visit sampad.org.uk for full details.
