COURTNEY PINE
JAZZ WARRIORS AFROPEANS

Saturday 6 October, 8pm

Courtney Pine’s commitment to the evolution of music in Britain – drawing together strands of classical, hip hop, world music, reggae and more, into a music that’s drenched in his own command of the language of jazz – is single-minded and inspirational.

For this special concert, he assembles his big band the Jazz Warriors, formed from a group of like-minded spirits who include Ayanna Witter Johnson, Shabaka Hutchings, Omar Puente, Alex Wilson, Tony Kofi, Byron Wallen, Cameron Pierre, Jason Yarde and others, plus film-makers Yeast, to present Afropeans.

This kaleidosopic event draws together music, word and live visuals to mark the abolition bicentinary and Black History Month, linking a crucial landmark in UK history – a turning point against “one of the most inhuman acts ever inflicted on hunmanity”, to the sounds of today’s United Kingdom.

Be part of this history – miss it if you dare…
